Your personal journal for completing a successful Research Project.
Consider i-xplore as a piece of personal stationery to help you through the Research Project. You are encouraged to use the journal for noting information and developing ideas through the practical exercises.
You might plan on going to university, TAFE or trade your heart set on travelling the world,
taking over the family farm, or starting your own business of any form. Whatever path you
could possibly take in life, there’s a good chance that research will play a role.
The Research Project is a 10 credit compulsory stage 2 subject in the SACE, which aims to develop your skills in:
* communicating
* independence
* awareness and application of research processes
* negotiating
* time management
* goal setting
* critical thinking
* analysis
* evaluating skills
* creative thinking
The Research Project will require you to be an independent learner, through choosing your
own question to investigate and present, and by selecting a focus capability to develop and
explore throughout the project. These are valuable life skills that will stand you in good
stead for whatever pathway you choose to take.
i-xplore is full of strategies and ideas to engage students in all areas of the Research Project. It is a complete one-stop shop for question ideas, planning, research methods, interview skills and communicating with others.
Rachel Aldrich and Tracey Dorian are both senior secondary teachers with some 30 years of classroom experience between them. As teachers of the Research Project and past practice as teachers of a research based subject, they are able to provide ‘real-life’ advice and strategies for success that will assist a diverse range of students.
